2006 Lonestar Regional Results
We came back empty handed but represented
Moore Norman very well. After two days of competition and
one match left, we were ranked 6th out of 54 robot teams.
We lost out last match by one point and dropped to a 19 seed
which is still really good. Because of our high seed we were
a back up robot which was prepared to step in for another
robot if it failed. We never got the opportunity to get into
the championship round. After the competitions across the
nation were over, we learned that team 1742 was 10th out of
1043 robots in our defenses statistics. In addition, we also
recieved the 2006 Website Excellence Award.
The students were very professional and
learned a great deal. We were one of a handful of teams who
never missed a practice session or match. Their design worked
and was reliable which is all that we asked of them. Thanks
again for all of your support.
Team 1742
The Moore Norman Technology Center
FIRST Robotics Team will compete for the first time ever March
30th April 1st 2006. Our regional competition is in Houston,
TX. The team is comprised of students from programs at Moore
Norman Technology Center and the four high schools it serves.
The Howling Spotted Ligers was chosen as our team name to
reflect the four school mascots. Howling (NHSN Timber Wolves)
Spotted (WHS Jaguars) Ligers (MHS Lions and NHS Tigers).
Team 1742 is led by students participating
in the Pre-Engineering Program at Moore Norman Technology
Center. The goal of MNTC's Pre-Engineering Program (and FIRST
Robotics) is to better prepare our students for a 4 year engineering
degree after completing high school. FIRST Robotics is a component
of our (EDD) Engineering Design and Development capstone course.
