We are back from the FIRST Robotics Lonestar Regional competition
and I could not be more proud of Team 1742 - the SHOCKWAVE!
For the first time we made it past the qualifying rounds and into
the finals! In the end we lost to a good alliance team, but we definitely
left an impression on the 51 teams in Houston.
Five of the seven Oklahoma Teams advanced to the Quarter Finals.
Jenks, McLain, and Moore Norman Technology Center were eliminated
in the Quarter Finals. Payne County Robotics was eliminated in the
Semi Finals. Ponca City High school (the most veteran team in Oklahoma)
was part of the winning alliance.
Our team passed inspection on it's first try and never missed a
practice, qualifying, or finals match which is an accomplishment
in itself.
Our student designed and fabricated robot competed well. We
received many compliments on our design and robot fabrication. We
could not be more proud of how the scouting team, drive team, and
pit crew performed during the 3 days of competition.
Many of our MNTC students spent their first day in other teams pits
helping them complete their robots or re-wire them to pass inspection.
The rookie team we sponsored (Metro Tech) did a great job, and was
a standby bot in the finals.
Thanks to all who helped us take the next step. Our team represented
MNTC, OU COE, and York very well. We were one of the most professional
and spirited teams in Houston last weekend.
This experience is one which stays with a student, it changes their
lives and goals, and we are so thankful that MNTC gives them this
opportunity.
