This years competition is called FIRST Overdrive. The objective of the game is to score more points then the opposing alliance. There are three teams on each alliance.

The game is divided up into two parts. An autonomous period, and a driver controlled period. During the autonomous period, the robots have 15sec to either knock down a ball onto the track, or to get some points going around in laps. The only human control allowed during this period is from a four output infrared remote control. This will help make minor corrections to the bots programming while in the game.

During the second period, drivers step up and take full control of the robot. To score points, bots must knock down, pick up, carry, hurdle, and place giant 40" balls around a track. You can also get points by doing laps and crossing different finish lines on the track. After two minutes, the game is over and points are evaluated to determine a winner.
